A few days earlier, after leaving the colonial grandness of The Victoria Falls Hotel, we made our way by road, even passing a pack of wild dogs on the side of the road, to Kasane Airport, which was much more modern than I was expecting.

Hi, welcome to Travel Amour.  My name is Karen and I'm a travel addict!  I seriously think I need to join a group like 'Travellers' Anonymous'.  I love everything about travelling - including the planning and the memories.  I love listening to people's travel stories and remembering my own adventures.  I have been married to John for thirty years, and we have one adult son and one adult daughter.  While we have been raising our family, we have travelled as much as time and money would permit, and I have tried to instil a sense of curiosity and adventure into them, to go out and explore our fabulous world with all of the wonderful people to meet and places to see.  My own parents were avid travellers and I, like my dad, always have at least one or two forward trips in some planning stage - whether it just a dream or wish, research, rough itinerary, basic bookings or definite plans.  I cannot live without having some place to look forward to visiting.  I hope you enjoy your visit to my blog.... whether it just be for a sticky beak, an inspiration, an idea, confirmation of a thought or whatever.

Hazyview -- Panorama Route

After flying from Cape Town to Mpumalanga Airport, we spent a  few days relaxing at Perry's Bridge Hollow, Hazyview, kind of regrouping in preparation for the next few weeks.

 We caught up on some rest and laundry, repacked our bags properly, spent a day touring the Panorama Route exploring the natural wonders of the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, God's Window and Bourke's Luck Potholes.

At the Gowrie Gate entrance to Sabi Sands, passports are presented and a record is kept of who is going in -- presumably against who is coming out and not having had an unfortunate encounter with any one of the many wild animals that could mean an untimely end.

From here, dusty, bumpy roads take you further and further inside Africa.  Chitwa Chitwa is a private game lodge, and their logo is several giraffe heads.  The directional signs from the Gowrie Gate have the giraffe heads looking in the direction you are to turn, and eventually the last one directs us to the entry of our home for the next four nights.
